Click on the cover above and it should link to a PDF file of Megachrist.com book. As a promotion for a short unspecified time, the whole book is available to download from here. It is still copyright of 555 films, it is not in the public domain. At some time in the futre this will change to some sample chapters.

By all means pass it on to friends, but do tell them where you got it and once the free period is over. I’ve finally got around to updating the website for Megachrist.com. If you are reading this, you have probably found it. unless of course this is Wordpress or Blogger. the look and ye shall find a URL link some where to the website. 

Unless i’m mistaken the URL link will not be hard to find.

Megachrist.com is my first novel. it’s about Kate, a London girl who starts an Internet religion, only to find that God actually likes her plan and send down four prophets to guide her and help spread the word of... IT.

Well I could go on and explain it in more detail but there is more information on the website, should be able to guess the URL, if you’re not here already.

Megachrist.com the movie

I have put up a page on Indie Go Go to try crowd funding a Megachrist.com movie. So if you want to be a new messiah, simply go to http://www.indiegogo.com/Megachristcom and donate a $100, just like in the book.

No idea if anyone will donate anything. I keep meaning to do a video for the campaign.So far I don’t think anyone has read the script or the book.

Megachrist.com Table Reading Movie

Making a movie of a reading of a movie script as part of pre-production and crowd funding for another movie may or may not be a great idea.

So I’m almost ready to post something on Shooting People, Star Now and Casting Call Pro, here’s what I have so far...

Megachrist.com Script Table Reading

555 Films is doing a cast reading of a feature length script, but it will also be filmed for use on a crowd funding website and for use as free advertising on the Internet. It is possible that we may be able to offer parts in Megachrist.com movie if funding is successful.

Auditions: on 6th October 2011 at the Dublin Castle from 12am to 3pm

Format is HD video shooting on HDV and DSLR video.

Synopsis

Kate and her friends sit at a table discussing there failed internet business. It went boom in the bust. Kate tells them she has a sure fire way they can make money... start an New Religion on the Internet.

Kate says that in their religion they will recognise Buddha as the first messiah, Jesus as the second and Mohammed as the third. Kate tells them the religion would be based on the coming of the next messiah, the fourth messiah. The new name of God is IT. This time the spirit of Christ will come back as one million messiah’s... the Megachrist. Our new bible for the new messiah’s will be one page long so we can print it on a tee shirt.

And how does someone know they are a new messiah? You ask. If their credit card clears, then they are a messiah. We charge a $100 and we give them a web page they can print off and add their names to a list of messiah’s. Its a scam that will make them a $100,000,000.

God sees what they’re doing and decides to use them to spread the word. Kate meets a Black Moses who tells them they will be visited by three of God’s prophets; Buddha, Jesus and Muhammad... A Californian Surfer Dude, a Kung Fu expert and a Mysterious Magical woman.

So find out if Kate takes the money and runs or see’s the light and becomes the prophet of the new age. I mean if you where God wouldn’t you use the Internet to get your message out? Or maybe a movie even? It could happen God moves in mysterious ways.

Main cast:

Good chance if you do the reading of getting into the movie.

Kate - Dark hair, mid 30's, leading lady

Phil - Blond hair, mid 30's to 40's, sci-fi book writer, leading man, Chelsea fan

Julie - Red haired, business woman, school friend of Kate

Bob - Family man, short dark hair, 40's, real al drinker and chelsea fan

Prophets

These roles will hopefully be played by well known actors in the movie, so little chance reading will get you into the movie, but who knows.

Black Moses - Dresses in black, carries a Cane (staff) and drinks Guinness

Buddha - Blonde Californian Surfer dude, wears, levis jacket and jeans and cowboy boots

Jesus - Chinese Kung Fu expert wears loose fitting Kung Fu clothes like Bruce Lee

Muhammad - Blonde Haired woman

Devil - Film Producer, Smart casual 50's to 60's

Most of these are very small parts, but maybe be chance of getting into the movie.

Extra’s

Well we don’t need any extra’s at the moment, but if you are in the table reading movie you can bring friends to watch. Any funders can come along too.

If we get the main parts and the prophets that should be OK, then maybe a few people could do the small parts and we would also have a narrator, which might be me, to do scene descriptions.

This is no budget film making, so I'm sorry but, at this time we have no money for food or expenses, but people are welcome to stay for a drink after as we are shooting in a bar. The Hawley also serves food.

A DVD will be supplied to actors of finished film. The film will not have any commercial value, but If the film is sold commercially any money will be distributed equally between cast and crew.

Shooting Documentary of Megachrist.com Script Reading

Filming a script table reading is not a new idea. They use it on Amazon Studios. I thought it would be a good way to publicise script and help get movie made. So we can use it in festivals, it is aimed at niche filmmaker market.

The above YouTube video was shout on my iMac using Photobooth, iSight Camera and edited in Final Cut.

I want to include small interviews with cast and crew in the reading and some how to’s about how we shoot it and what limited equipment we used to do it.

I still have Canon XHA1 from shooting Pub Crawl, which uses Mini-DV tapes. So that will be main camera on a tripod and it will record the sound too.

I now have a Canon 550D with an 18mm to 55mm lense and some Nikkor prime lenses 24mm, 35mm, 85mm and 180mm.

The 85mm is F1.4 I used to use it for taking pictures of bands on push B&W film at 1600 ASA in small London clubs back in the 80’s. Lenses tend to stick around and I still haven’t sold my Nikon F3 or F4 even though 35mm for photography is pretty much dead.

We used The Hawley Arms in our last movie Pub Crawl and you can see the results with the Canon XHA1 in available light by looking at Pub Crawl episode 3.

I would like to use the new Apple Final Cut Pro X to edit movie and maybe try and include some editing screen shoots in the Movie.

Hopefully if we can get some funding on Sponsume, a UK based crowd funding website I would recommend. They even help out by improving what you write. I can do this once I figure out how do do movies of Apple screens using software. There is a link to our  Sponsome project here.

Megachrist.Doc: Update on Sponsume Project

So far it’s been a week and we’ve raised no money. I know, it’s not you it’s me. I’m doing it all wrong, which is why this will be a project with no budget.

Filmmaker don’t have spare money to give to other filmmakers. Finding an audience for something is hard for me, as I don’t know what an audience wants.

The good thing is the script seems to have got some interest from actors. I have about 30 actors who have said they will attend the audition.

It might be good to get some film of the auditions. Even if we don’t use it in the film. I’ve sent something through to IMDB to see if I can get a list as Megachrist.Doc

It is difficult to get a listing in pre-production on IMDB. We don’t have a cast yet.

I was going to use Final Cut pro X to edit documentary. I did try and ask Apple for sponsorship, but all you get is auto-response emails. So I will try it with the 30 day Demo version.

The biggest problem is do I have enough Hard Drive space to edit another feature length documentary. As I still have about 600 GB from Pub Crawl on my Hard Drive, about 79 Gb left on a 1 TB drive.

My Apple laptop has a battery that lasts for 15 minutes even if it’s fully charged and the 220 GB HD has 30 GB left on it.

I figure I will need 3 MiniDV tapes for the Canon XHA1 to shoot movie. The bigger problem is how many 16 GB SD cards will I need to be able to use Canon 550D as 2nd camera for close-up’s. I think 4 x 16 GB should be enough, might get away with 3 cards.

If I can clear some space on the laptop then I could use 2 cards and copy the data to the laptop Hard Drive.

In the last shoot I gave someone on the crew the digital Nikon we used as a prop in the movie. My Nikon D80 and he used up the battery shooing flash.

I’m thinking of using my Nikkor 85mm F1.4 to get close-up’s. I have a Nikkor 35mm F2 as well, which I think is about 50mm on the Canon.

I would like the Canon 50mm F1.8 or F1.4 but, no budget for that. No funders so far, as you can see on Sponsume’s widget on this page.

15 Hours Countdown for Sponsume.com Crowd Funding End

Only 23 Hours left in our Crowd Funding campaign on Sponsume.com So far we’ve raised nothing... Well it was worth a shot maybe someone actually read the script or my eBook and it will help it get made into a movie further down the line.

Even if it fails.

The audition was a bit of a disaster, nothing to do with the actors. As I was going out I did a last minute check and realised that I didn’t have my wallet on me. I usually leave it in my pocket, but I’d been shopping so I’d left it in my jack pocket, but  it wasn’t there. I looked for it everywhere I could think of but, I didn’t find it. So I had to go out without debit card, credit cards, unlimited Cineworld or money.

I did have 50p and my Oyster card. I arranged with my friend and co-producer to get to The Dublin Castle on time and meet with the actors. I’ve known Mick for years. One of the characters in Pub Crawl movie was based on him. He was a producer on

the movie, so I expected Mick would be there. I had spoken to him twice that morning.

I got into to Camden ten minutes late and got a call from an actor waiting at the bar. No Mick, still haven’t heard from him. He didn’t show up.

What else could go wrong?

The last timeI used The Dublin Castle for auditions for Pub Crawl movie, seemed to work OK. I think we had a great cast. I had set the time for 11am, but found out the bar didn’t open until 12pm. So this time I had set the time for the auditions for 12 noon.

When I got there the Pub was closed. It didn’t open until 1pm, they had some sort of meeting. Yes, I know I should have checked.

So out of thirty actors six showed up and one Magda had read the script three years ago when it got optioned by Trudie Styler’s company Xingu. Magda really wanted to play Kate and I feel she is the best one for it. She is also helping with asking some of her actor friends to read in the script reading.

Later I met with Leigh and Tricia, who where both in Pub Crawl movie. Leigh played Ray and Tricia played Nicky. I convinced Tricia that the part of Julie in Megachrist would be great for her and Leigh likes the Devil part that I wrote as the last scene of the movie. 

It turns out that Tricia now runs a talent agency, so she is helping Magda with getting more actors for the shoot. Which should still go ahead on the 14th October, two days before my birthday.

Where did Megachrist.com idea come from?

I had first had the idea for Megachrist.com as a scam for starting an Internet religion. At the time I was a director of a web hosting company so I got the domain name. 

I also had wonga.com, but I lost it as someone in the company didn’t renew it. Anyway even though, starting an Internet religion, seemed like a great idea. I had the idea at the time for printing the Gospel on a Tee Shirt and for their being a Million messiah’s, which where created by the Holy Ghost. Nothing happened.

Later I started writing movie scripts and I thought the idea of Megachrist.com, where someone starts a religion on the Internet, would make a great idea for a script.

I changed the main character from me, to Kate. The other idea I had was using the structure from Charles Dickens Scrooge.

So in the script, Kate meets Moses, who tells her God has chosen her to spread the word and she will meet the spirits of three Prophets, who will guide her, Buddha, Jesus and Muhammad. the script did get optioned by Xingu Films, a company of Trudie Styler’s, but they never picked up the option.

So later I turned the movie script into a novel, but it was too short. I added a book that Kate was writing into the novel. I also added another script I had called The Black Arts into the Novel, it is being written by Kate’s boyfriend. Phil, who is named after Philip K Dick and is a science fiction writer. In fact he sometimes believes that he is Philip K Dick... and he has somehow got time-shifted into a black iron prison in Roman times.

So that is how Megachrist.com Ebook came to be, if you have read this far you should go read the book and let me know what you think, if you like it.
